EVI stands for Electronic Valve Instrument.  The EVI was invented by trumpeter Nyle Steiner and is a truly remarkable and powerful instrument for those that take the time to commit to learning how to play it.  I have been playing the EVI since 1983, when I first purchased a used analog Crumar EVI. Today, I play the EVI exclusively as my primary and only instrument.
