This entry constitutes a musical scrapbook of sorts - my various encounters and musical adventures as a windsynth player. Some are photos I have taken, others are photos other's took of me and the bands that I work with.
A few Gig Shots from some of my gigs:
Here is a picture of song writer and guitarist Mike Jones and to the far right is my good friend Jackie Lee who used to be a lead guitar player for Wilson Pickett!
Above: A pre-EVI blast from the past. Jeff Watkins (sax player for James Brown) and I when we were in college playing a gig! In the famous "crouch" position - a standard R&B maneuver designed to help one "get down"...
My good friend and mentor Jackie Lee blazing away on guitar! Above: Rockin' out (mid breath) at my regular gig at The Starboard (world's greatest beach bar) in Dewey Beach, DE! I love this place and the people that hang out here. No other bar like it in the world as far as I know it. Note the musician's earplugs, which allow me to keep my hearing after numerous loud-ass gigs! Sometimes people think those are hearing aids, but thanks to these earplugs, I won't need hearing aids!
I photoshopped this one to look like a painting (because it was a bit blurry to begin with). Turned out cool!
Above: Me and one of our many friends from The Starboard in Dewey Beach.
Above: That is me (second from left) with my longtime band out of DC, Jimi Smooth & Hittime. These folks are family after 10 years of gigging steadily. After a decade plus of playing, we are pretty tight.
Behind the amp photo of me playing a gig at The Underpass in Elmwood Park, NJ - a fantastic music institution in North Jersey. I haul the Roland out for venues that are too small for my Bose PAS.
On fire with my red shirt and black pants (standard R&B gig outfit!)
Above: The incredible Jimi Smooth and professional NFL Cheerleaders! Sometimes we "co-brand" at various clubs during the summer. In this case, the Washington Redskin Cheerleaders joined us onstage at The Starboard in Dewey Beach, making it a "Vegas" style show. |
